Spread the love

If you love to travel like we do, you probably search every travel website trying to find deals to Europe or some beautiful island in the middle of nowhere… but have you tried looking right here in the United States?

.

Eric was about to move to Texas from California and we really wanted to take advantage of having a week off of work to explore before he left. So after a LOT of research, we came up with this 7 day road trip that we absolutely loved. Check out more information below!

Day 1: Lancaster to Santa Barbara to Morro Bay

Start of your adventure hitting up the Santa Barbara Zoo and feed giraffes ($5). Drive by Old Mission, Solvang (Danish village filled with a little something for everyone like some amazing  wineries and tasty pastries), Pismo Beach to see the Butterfly garden and end at Morro Bay.

Day 2: Morro Bay & Montana de Oro

.

Our favorite stop of the whole trip, check out Montana de Oro which is filled with walks, hikes and gorgeous views people travel from all over the world.

Day 3: Morro Bay to Paso Robles, Hearst Castle, Big Sur and Monterey

Drive to Paso Robles for an amazing winery and visit Heart Castle where you’ll feel like you are in Europe. Then get comfortable in your car as you take one of the best scenic tours of the coast on Big Sur with stops to see the Elephant Seals on the way!

Day 4: Carmel-By-The-Sea, 17 Mile Drive, Monterey Aquarium then drive to Fresno

Love hikes? So do we! Check out Point Lobos and drive through Carmel-By-The-Sea and the 17 Mile Drive for some breathtaking photos. Then end in Monterey and visit it’s amazing aquarium.

Day 5: Fresno to Sequoia National Park (Northern Portion)

With these gorgeous views, what could be better? We drove up the beautiful path to Wuksachi Lodge, a great stay right in the middle of all the gorgeousness nature has to offer!

Day 6: Sequoia National Park (from Northern to Southern Portion)

.

Be prepared for full beauty with good cold gear and a map! In true fashion, we wandered off the trail and may have gotten a bit lost… but man that view was worth it! Hike, build your own snowman, climb fallen tree roots, sit and take the view. The world is your oyster!

Day 7: Sequoia National Park to Lancaster

The journey ends but at least some beautiful views before you go to your next stop!

  1. I take pleasure in, lead to I found exactly what I
was having a look for. You’ve ended my 4 day lengthy hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day.
    Bye

  2. Your pictures are amazing and I love every spot you highlighted! My husband is a native Californian but we never thought to do this trip in the winter. It must have been spectacular and so romantic.

    1. That is great to hear! My husband lived there for three years but we decided to do this road trip only once he was moving to Texas. It made us realize it was worth exploring our current states and not just internationally. I hope you are able to go in the winter and let us know what you think 🙂
